Football Game Day Overview
The band performs at all home football games. A typical game day schedule is outlined below to help families know what to expect. Final itineraries and details will be shared by the band director with students and parents through the Band App.
Call time is typically 5:00 p.m. Students should arrive at the band room wearing their green band shirt, black shorts or pants, black crew socks, and Dinkles. Before heading to the stadium, students will change into their green wool uniform.
Before kickoff, the band will take the field to perform the National Anthem and Fight Song. During the game, students will sit together on the north end of the home bleachers. Water will be provided by the Band Boosters.
In most cases, the band will perform during halftime. Props and Front Ensemble equipment will need to be moved to and from the field, so parent volunteer support is appreciated.
Students are typically released around 9:00 p.m.
Competition Day Overview
Below is an example of a typical competition day. Final schedules, report times, and event details will be shared by the band director with students and parents through the Band App.
Day of Competition
Students will typically arrive at FZN in the morning for rehearsal on the field. After rehearsal, the Band Boosters will provide a meal for students. Following the meal, students and parent volunteers will help load instruments, props, and equipment onto the trailers and trucks.
Students will then board buses and travel to the competition site. Once the band arrives, students and parent volunteers will unload instruments, props, and equipment.
Preliminary Performance
Before the preliminary performance, students will change into their competition uniforms and report to the designated warm-up area. Students, Pit Crew, and parent volunteers will help move props, Front Ensemble equipment, and instruments to the performance field.
After the performance, students and volunteers will move all props, equipment, and instruments back to the trucks, trailers, and buses. Depending on the schedule, the Band Boosters may provide another meal. Students may also have time to watch other bands perform before preparing for finals.
Finals Performance
If the band advances to finals, students will return to the designated warm-up area before their performance. Students, Pit Crew, and parent volunteers will again help move props, equipment, and instruments to the field.
After the finals performance, all equipment will be moved back to the trucks, trailers, and buses. Students will then return to the field for awards.
Returning to FZN
After awards, students will change out of uniform and help load instruments and equipment. The band will then return to FZN by bus.
Once back at FZN, students and parent volunteers will unload the trucks and trailers before students are released.
